Invitation to Ballet and Tutu

A celebration of dance, Degas …and little dancers!

This gift-boxed set includes Carolyn Vaughan’s Invitation to Ballet and a two-layer tutu. In the engaging picture book (also sold separately here), young readers will find out what happens in ballet class, learn about some of the steps and leaps, and discover the magic of ballet. Works of art by Edgar Degas (French, 1834–1917) bring the ballet vividly to life, while illustrations by Rachel Isadora picture modern young dancers learning ballet.

Made from polyester and nylon, the tutu is machine washable, with satin-covered elastic waistband and a satin bow. Fits waists measuring 18” to 30”. Recommended for ages 3–8. Hours of fun for the young ballerina!

“In Degas’s scenes of dancers at the barre, adjusting their tutus, stretching their legs and ‘floating above the stage’, young dancers will no doubt recognize themselves, and come away with a deeper sense of ballet’s long tradition.’  New York Times
