When it premiered in 1913, The Rite of Spring created one of ballet’s greatest theatrical sensations. Featuring the choreography of Vaslav Nijinsky and the celebrated music of Igor Stravinsky, the ballet is today regarded as one modernism’s great breakthrough events. This anthology, released in association with an exhibition at Germany’s Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, includes contributions by Lynn Garafola, Gabriele Brandstetter, Nicola Gess, Raphael Gygax and Sigrid Weigel.

Featuring 50 full colour illustrations and another 50 in black and white, Sacre 101 addresses the ballet’s context and history, and will be welcomed by Sacre aficionados and anyone interested the creative legacies of Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes.
