‘Sightings and Spectaculars’

** CANCELLED **

We regret to advise that the exhibition planned for 23-31 March 2019 has been cancelled.

Our main advertisement for the exhibition was mistakenly deleted from the Castlemaine State Festival’s program booklet.
Festival organisers have expressed their apologies.

A glamorous past and impassioned present come together in a two-part exhibition by photographic artist Lorena Carrington and dance historian Caitlyn Lehmann.

Sightings features Carrington’s richly layered illustrations created for short stories newly published by local author Jennifer Lehmann. Introspective and laced with shadows, Carrington’s omniscient images evoke disturbance and complexity that surges through the lives of the Sightings characters.

Copies of Sightings and Carrington’s illustrative prints will be on sale during the exhibition.

Spectaculars brings to life the cheerful, saucy world of ballet extravaganzas, which lit up the popular stages of late 1800s Britain and France. Showcasing historical prints and ephemera from Lehmann’s research archive, the display introduces a pleasure-filled world of exotic beauties and theatrical excess.

Dates: 10am-4pm, 23-24 March (Sat-Sun), 29-31 (Fri-Sun). Other times by appointment
Venue:  107C Farnsworth Street, Castlemaine, Victoria
Admission by gold coin donation
